Hi,

I have an oldish pc, AMD X2 4400+ in an Asus A8N-SLI board and it wont turn on, and its making a high pitched noise.

The green power light on the board lights up, but as said it is refusing to turn on, im sure everything is connected right as its been left on 24/7 and just turned itself off a couple of weeks ago.

Can i safely assume this is the PSU? I dont sadly have a spare one to test with so will have to order a new one and just wanted to double check that the PSU is the most likely fault.

Thanks for any help

Jack

A high pitched noise could be a dead capacitor. See if you can see any that have expanded , or burst on your motherboard.

But yes, probably the power supply. Invest in a Corsair HX520 for about £50. Worth every penny!
