Hello,

I recently upgraded to an Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6400 2.13GHz / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 2GB Corsair XMS2-6400C5 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (bundle from OC.UK), together with a Leadtek GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3. After I assemble the parts, I switched on the PC and some strange things happen.

This is what happens:

- I switch on the PC after a couple of hours being switched off.
- The ram checking screen of the video card shows, all ok till now.

- Now, this is the strange thing:
- The screen where the list of hdd/dvd together with RAM and CPU information is shown, however, with some sort of artifacts on the screen. The artifacts are like "matrix" style, just dots instead of numbers.
- If from this stage I go to the bios, artifacts disappear, however, if I reboot the computer instantly, the artifacts will reappear in the same screen.
- If I stay a bit longer (say a minute) in the bios, the artifacts will disappear and computer will boot normally.

- After this screen, the next screen (the one where that "table" shows up before the windows XP loading bar) appears, with the same artifacts.
- Afterwards, thw windows xp loading screen shows up, with the same artifacts. After 2-3 seconds, a blue screen shows up and computer reboots instantly.

The problem with all this is that it's not done constantly in all screens, and that after "some time", the artifacts will disappear completely and the computer will work like a bliss.

I tried my VGA on another computer, and work perfectly. I also tried another PSU (Enermax Libery 500W), with only the VGA plugged and having the same result (artifacts). I tried to ask around and got told that if the CPU was bad, it would behave much worse.

If you have any idea what this might be, I'd appreciate some tips (excuse me for my bad grammar, but I'm hungry!)

Cheers.

Aha,
I have the Gigabyte DQ6 (your motherboards bigger brother), and the Leadtek 7950 GT TDH.
I get exactly the same thing happen to me.

OC have tested the card twice and deemed it to not be faulty, but I always get the artifacts.
I have tried a Nvidia 6200LE, 7800GS, another brand 7950GT, and now a 8800GTS - all these cards work fine.

I have spoken to Gigabyte and they have sent me numerous beta bios (Latest being F7e) - no difference.
I notice that if I change the PCIe speed from AUTO to 100MHz (which is normal), the PC will not boot at all.
Gigabyte tell me it must be the card at fault!!.

I am in a bit of a dilema now, as the shop test the card fine (twice), but I cannot get the card to work correctly.

Sorry I cannot fix your problems, but at least you know that you are not the only one now !

Regards
Rik

may sound stupid but could it be a faulty set of cpu's or do you not have the same cpu?

Mine is a E6600 !

Its just that every other GFX card I have tried works fine ??

PS - I have posted about this problem before, but my posts where deleted, as I mentioned the shop.
