I've just bought myself a new core 2 duo 8500 and have been told i will need to update my bios for it to work in my system.....

The problem is when i try to use asus EZ flash to update the bios file, it reads the new bin file from my USB stick and then tells me "the downgraded ROM file is not suitable for the system" i'm kind of stuck now as i dont have a floppy drive to do it the other way :|

I'm sure i have selected the correct board from the Asus support site.

Anyone offer any help or advice ?

The latest firmware for the P5N-E SLi is 1301. However, the latest beta bios revision is 1403.

Which version are you trying to update to?

You could try reseting the CMOS before you flash.

Also are you using the EZ flash thats in the bios or one downloaded from their website? I have never used the latter, always used the one in the bios and it has been fine, running the latest bios just now.

Try also redownloading the bios from their website.

Got it sorted now, it seems my system didnt like the beta versions, the 1301 rev went in no problem.
Hopefully the new 8500 will just go straight in when it arrives, i really dont want to have to format :)
Thanks for the help o/
