i have been running with 8 gb 2 x ddr3 modules in my rig , i got another 2 to take me up to 16gb as its cheap, i cant get comp to boot with all 4 in , seems to be stuck in boot loop , wont post just keeps restarting.
i have tested all 4 modules as 2 x dimms installed , all are good .

i have been having problems with my psu , an old hiper 580r i am wondering if its power related as it only has 360w on the 12 volt rail ?

i have ordered a new corsair 850 watt anyway , but would be good for some advice? i have reset coms etc so its not that

i cant get into bios it wont boot with ram in , its kingston hyper x moduels 1.65 volts its a brand new msi gen 3 mobo and supports up to 8gb per slot

Both sets are Kingston HyperX?

You can remove 2 sticks, go into the BIOS to set speed, timing and voltage manually, save the changes then switch off the PC and put the 2 sticks you removed back in.

as Surveyor mentioned if you set the timing/voltage with 2 sticks in, does it not save it for when you try and put 4 in ?

Seems to be a peoblem saving settings in bios when i hit exit and save ,if i change memory settings the computer shuts of completley and fast then goes in boot loop everything shuts down .
The fans and stuff normally keep running when a save any other setting . One thing is the memory was part of a tri channel kit i bought the single stick seperate as the 1156 uses dual channel memory.
But i was told dual kit and tri kits are all the same there is no such thing as tri channel memory modules or is this my problem ?

shouldn't make any difference with tri or dual channel.

if i've read it right they have the same timings & voltages, so i would have expeceted you to have had a problem trying to run one of the tri channel sticks with the seperate stick you brought, but you didn't.

boot issue when you try to save the settings seems a bit wierd, have you tried reseting things to the boards default then adding in your changes ?
