Problem installing a game

Greetings peeps.
After a long spell away from playing BF2 I thought that I'd get myself back into it. I've managed to install BF2 onto my rig but when I go to intall the expansion pack (Special Forces) it tells me that I have to install BF2 first I can go to my start menu and click on BF2 and tah dah, there it is Does anyone have any idea why it can't seem to detect that I have installed the game in the first place

Have you installed BF2 to a different partition at all? Im just wondering if the expansion pack is looking in the Program Files directory and not seeing BF2 as its somewhere else.

This is a long shot as I would assume it would be a tad more intelligent when looking for BF2.

Nope, not at all Sirus. I don't even have my HD partioned Yeah I know I should but I don't (maybe next week ).

have you installed all your updates as well? the installer's probably checking online for the current version before installing (might even only be compatible with certain versions after 1.0)

Hmmm, just tried that and I got an error message saying that it can't find the install folder for the game Gonna uninstall and try again just to see what happens next

Bugger me Now the game won't uninstall itself from my system

Double edit: Downloaded an evaluation version of Advanced Uninstaller Pro 2006 to see if that would help ..... and it doesn't show BF2 at all! So I thought that perhaps that it had been uninstalled but for some reason the icons were still showing on my system. Clicked on the BF2 icon to see what would happen and the game started This is getting really frustrating!
