Problem installing Ati drivers

I'm doing this for a friend so i hope i get everything right. Ok, he's recently been given his bro's 9800pro to replace his struggling 9600, he's uninstalled the old driver's but when he goes to install the new drivers he gets this message.

ATI Software

Setup failed to run installation:
The remote procedure call failed.
-click OK-

Any advice on this? I've told him a few things he can check but i'm not really an expert.
