I upgraded my gfx card and Psu from an 8800GTX with 540w Psu to GTX280 with 800w Tagan Psu which all went fine... booted up straight into vista fine, vista said it recognised new hardware ie the gfx card and would update its drivers so i used the disc that came with he card. Now, everything had gone smooth until it asked me to restart the PC of which i clicked yes, although in the background Vista was actually updating itself.

Problems started after i rebooted the PC, it would hang after the windows bar finished loading. After a few tries and realising it wasnt happy i decided to boot with my Vista disc and see if it needed a repair of sorts . After the Repair check finished it said that windows couldnt start do to an update to vista that needed fixing which i gathered it had done.

rebooted and the same problem, hang city, so in my impatience i decided to format the HD and slap a fresh install of Vista on and start new.. this bright idea will not work, as Vista starts the install process but then asks me to load 'the drivers' of which it doesnt state what for ?? and i have no idea what to do as having done this many times its usually plain sailing with me only having to press yes to reboot when its finsihed installing

is this a common problem? am i doing something noobish ? is the OP asking for my Mobo drivers of which i cant say ive ever seen nor had etc is my HD the likely candidate for this problem ? (ive ran chkdsk and it reports fine..

any ideas or help welcome ..

* i also tried installing my Xp which seemed fine until it restarts with BSOD*
