I have tried to add a second SATA drive on my ASUS P5VDC - MX but it causes my system to hang. I have tried the various system settings in the Southbridge area of bios set up but all fail. I tried connecting to the other SATA ports. The mobo sees both drives but WIN XP won't boot or will go thru the start process and then end at a black screen when it should have the WIN start screen (blue one) Sometimes the system won't go past the mobo start screen and sometimes it will not respond to the Del key to enter bios set up.
Following advice I installed the RAID drivers but now whilst XP will load it does so very very slowly with occassional pauses. When it has finished it will lag tremendously and takes a few mins for apps to open. Mouse will freeze at intervals.
