Hi,
i have my friends acer aspire m3600. he has deleted the backup partition and hasnt got windows on at all now. the problem is when i try installing vista ultimate, it gets to the last part and just pauses. im wondering if it needs the raid drivers, but i cannot find them anywhere! i understand the chipset is an intel 946PL/GZ

thanks

What are you classing as the last part?
If Vista is letting you pick a drive to install onto then you dont need the RAID drivers.

Im going to give you my generic advice that I say to anyone who has trouble installing an OS....go into the BIOS and disable all the additional hardware (like network and sound) then try reinstalling. If it installs properly turn the devices back on.

How long have you left it for?

thanks, il try that now. i left it about 2 hours, i lost my head then and shut it down, but ive tried a few times

How much memory in the machine? Vista can have problems installing with 4GB installed - if this is the case you should remove some and re-install the RAM after install

sorry to bring this thread back up, but im still having no joy. tried disabling sound and network. the machine has 2gb
