Well I thought I would try Windows 8 just for the fun of it and it was more hassle than I expected.

I am doing it from a USB and I used a guide that I can't seem to link but if you google "install windows 8 from usb" it will be the top one.

It seemed to work fine, I booted from my USB and installed Windows 8 and after that it either trys to install it again or it starts loading Windows 8, it comes up saying "Windows Developer Preview" then the screen goes dark with a blue like border around it and I can see the mouse but can't do anything else.

I have tried reinstalling it but that didn't work, Is it hopeless trying to install it from a USB? or is Windows 8 just hopeless atm :p

I couldn't get mine to boot from USB, so installed it from USB from within windows7. Worked fine.

Have you tried redown loading in case it's broke.

Oh and it's great and very stable.

To boot from USB it won't work like Windows 7, you need to use some software from Microsoft store called Windows 7 USB - DVD Tool, this puts the ISO onto the stick and makes the stick bootable.

use win rar to extract the files from the iso onto the usb stick. Its what I did and works fine but and this is a big but I bought a new usb stick when I lost my old one the new one is a kingston one and it didnt work unless I used the windows 7 usb tool.
My old one was a sandisk one not sure why that worked but the kingston didnt

You don't need to follow that, it's as easy as 1,2,3.

1: make sure you have ISO
2: Download the app
3: follow the procedures in the app

DONE!

Well what if your Grandma wanted to check out the developer preview of Windows 8, she'd need a guide like that perhaps?

With normal savvy people I think the guide does more harm than good :p, it confuses me.
