Basically put a computer together from spares around the house, including a new hard-drive.
Everything booted, windows disc in and it all formatted and something installed (you know the whole blue screen thing, not the blue screen of death)
But now the computer wont go any further, something about not being able to access the OS or something?!.......
I think the problem might be that the hard-drive appears to be a slave, rather than master but this is the only hard-drive on the machine, and I cant see a way to change it via the bios.

Any ideas? cheers.

you need to take a look at the manufacturers manual on their site for your drive, the jumpers are normally located on the back of the drive near the power/data connectors

they usually look like that..

set it to master, and was also finally able to get through mt i.t guy, he gave me this link:
http://whocares.de/2004/12/28/error-loading-operating-system/

hopefully that'll tell you more of my problem.
Ive done what its told me to do, but now it doesnt load anyfurther than the black/white info screen, and if i try a frsh install it stays on the "checking hardware" screen before the thing goes black.

any ideas? its really getting on my nerves.
