Setup copies the files for installation, the the pc restarts. Instead of carrying on with the setup it says "Press any key to boot from cd/dvd", if I press anything it restarts the installation all over again.

If I dont press anything it comes up with the message: "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart". Pressing any key just brings up the message again and ejecting the xp cd and pressing a key does the same.

Anyone know what I can do?

btw installing xp sp2 on a ssd.

Is the SSD set to be the highest priority hard disk in your BIOS?

Sounds like it's trying to boot from another disk, or at least not trying to boot from the SSD.

agreed. check order, sometimes i find it easier pulling power to all drives except the one you are installing to. Saves me messing around changing settings for 5 hard drives

Thanks, but now it's giving me this message:

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check WIndows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

put your xp disc in and redo the install

set your ssd as 1st boot device (unplug any usb drives)

probably can press F8/F10/F12 to choose boot (cd)
