Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle! Not had problems joining a domain before but am having this problem with a windows server 2003 machine. This machine was previously a domain controller dhcp and dns server (yup all three :S )

I have demoted it using dcpromo, and removed the dhcp and dns server role. All of which completed successfully.

However on demoting it to a member server, it removed the computer from a domain. Problem now is I'm trying to rejoin this computer to the domain again. I can join the domain succesfully, but when the computer restarts and starts up again...it just hangs on 'Applying computer settings'. I thought it was just taking a while longer than usual but 1 hour later it was still applying computer settings. The only way I can get it to actually log on is to reset the computer account on our primary domain controller, but this only allows me to logon locally.

I really need to get this computer on the domain, does any1 have any idea why this is happening??

Any advice appreciated

Please elaborate on this. Did you check the event logs to see why it just "fell" off the domain?

lol...u kinda fixed the problem there :P Actually bothered to check the event logs and although I coudn't see any errors for the time the server came off the domain, I did see plenty of errors regarding exchange system attendant being unable to start...as soon as I disabled it was able to log on successfully. :S

am such a noooooobb :(
