When I first got the system going I inserted the MCE2005 install disk and changed boot configuration to boot from CD. Quick restart and the got to the format screen. I chose the normal option but seconds later had a rethink, didn't want to sit there for a couple of hours (500GB HDD) so turned rebooted the system so I could choose the quick format option.
This time it wouldn't boot from CD and gave an error. I pulled the SATA cable off the back of the HDD and it booted from CD. Turned off and reconnected the HDD and again wouldn't boot from CD.
Went into bios and disabled all boo options apart from CD, rebooted and again wouldn't boot from CD.
Disconnected SATA cable off the back of the HDD and rebooted, it now boots from CD. As soon as I see it booting from CD I quickly refitted the SATA cable on the back of the HDD and went through the format but chose not to do the quick format (wish I had of done that originally instead of messing!!). Went though the format then the 'Windows is copying set-up files etc", machine reboots but wont boot from CD. I get the error message:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disc hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disc. Check boot path and disc hardware. Please check the windows documentation about hardware disc configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."
HDD is in the SATA1 socket, DVD drive is in the SATA2 socket, SATA3 and SATA4 are unused.
HDD has no jumpers in the rear so running at 3.0 (SATA2), DVD drive again has no jumpers fitted (not sure what speed this runs at).
Tried resetting CMOS, also tried the safe and performance bios settings.
Any idea's?
