Hi guys,

Bought a new PC today. Acer Aspire T180 3800+ X2.

Everything is fine until i installed my logitech g7 mouse and saitek gamers keyboard (Both USB devices). when i try to start the pc it freezes at the splash screen for the bios. If I unplug them and put a serial mouse/keyboard back in then it runs fine.
Ive had a poke round in the BIOS and both Enable USB Mouse + Keyboard are ticked.

Im sure its something really simple im missing but any help is appreciated

Many thanks in advance

Could be a power issue. As you bought the PC all-in-one you could get it replaced.

What happens if you plug in the mouse when windows has booted?

Try alternating between the new mouse + old keyboard then old mouse and new keyboard see if one works and one dont.

Might be able to find the culprit causing all the trouble.

Then it detects straight away and starts working as normal, but its highly annoying having to unplug it everytime i turn off and plug it in when i boot up :(

Tried that and its the same with all combos, if theres something connected to the usb ports then it refuses to go past the Acer splash screen

it probably errors/freezes as no ps/2 keyboard is detected. Disable this in your BIOS.

Cant find the option to disable PS/2 detection.

Upon further inspection i did see the boot options were set to boot from removable drives 1st then HD then CD rom. Set it to boot from HD 1st and still no different

its really got me baffled to be honest. Im not fussed about *** keyboard, i can live with my PS/2 generic board, but i love my G7 and dont want to have to go back to my old ball mouse :(

its in the basic section, generally the first bios section

Halt on All Errors. Togge that to say Halt on All Errors Except Keyboard.

ok just tried that and *** same thing happens :(

tried it set to not halt at all but it still does

tried the ports front and back :(

interestingly tho the battery charge station for the mouse continues to draw power from the PC even when its shut down, as it still charges the batteries even when turned off

as for the PS/2 adapter.... I have gone back to a non usb keyboard so its just the charging/reciever station for the Logitech G7 thats using the usb port now but still no joy
