Problem opening animated .gif files

Hi chaps.

Bit odd this. I have collected a fair few things from the internet over the years, including amusing animated gifs I see on my travels.

I tried to look through some today, but can't.

Firstly, the default opening programme is Windows Media Centre? Also, if I open it with Microsoft office picture manager, they don't work as I just get an image.

Recently upgraded my OS to Win7 64 and I assume this is the cause of the problem?

Just wondering if there is a fix?

Found a fix but needed to download - http://www.irfanview.com/

Yeah, windows vista removed support for animated gifs in the regular picture viewer, I think you used to need to open them with IE to view them properly. Though like you, I use irfanview now

I just use my web browser to view all my .gif files

No use if you have a folder of them you want to scroll through
