Earlier I created a backup of Outlook onto a cd, now after I have reformated I'm trying to import the PST file but it keeps coming up with the following message that I don't have permission to open the pst file. I have copied the pst file to my desktop but it still won't open from there. I think that i may have to remove the read only setting but not sure how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nah, like he says it will be the read only attribute on the file. Corruption occurs at around 2GB although that's largely been fixed in Outlook 2003. There's no need to go down the scanpst route yet.

The file is way under a gig. When creating a backup in Outlook 2003 is it normal for the pst file to be created as read only?

If you burn to CD then copy back to your hard drive it usually copies back as read only.

Outlook 2000 on our corporate side like to corrupt at 1Gig, which is nice

We are trying to get everyone away from PST's and into Vaulting, yay :o :D
