Problem pc, big shock there.! lol

mates computer got a bsod and shutdown, wouldnt turn on at all after that, no fans/startup, NOTHING.

all i get is the motherboard onboard LED light on nothing else.

psu doesnt turn on when bench tested with just mobo, 1 stick of ram, graphics card and cpu

but does turn on when i trip the P1 connector with a paper clip in the green and ground wire.

anyone know if this is a psu or motherboard problem, (tested the ram/cpu and graphics card in my system so there knowen good parts) Psu is a 580watts Hiper rtype, not sure about the motherboard though, all i know is its an asus board.

Try another PSU, I presume you have tried a Bios reset also? If not then give this a go although sounds like mobo if the PSU tests out...

It sounds like the motherboard to me, although the Hipers are known to be problematic.

First place to start would be another psu....
