problem - possibly keyboard?

Recently my pc makes a beeping noise when trying to type in password to log into windows and nothing types. then it finally types. also keyboard seems frozen a lot of the time and it seems as if the control key is pressed (if I press "p" then the print screen comes up). Even scrolling with mouse on the net, changes font size.
i have tried another keyboard and the same problem happens. So I am thinking it may possibly be something else not the keyboard.
Any ideas what it could be/how I can sort this problem out?

maybe it is an issue with the actual port of the back of your PC
maybe try a usb board if you're using PS/2

yeh the port most likely knackered was goin to say the shift key stuck down but not on 2 keyboards tho init

have tried both usb and PS/2 ports but still causing a problem. I am thinking of doing a windows reinstall but don't really want to if something else can sort it out.
any other suggestions?
