Problem recovering data from a formatted drive.

A backup drive was accidentally quick formatted, file recovery programs recover the entire directory structure and files, but none of them open properly, word documents are corrupt etc.

Since no data was actually written to the drive, surely all the file contents should be totally intact?

Just copy the data back to the backup drive from your main data set. Job done.

That's the problem, the backup drive was being used to perform a restore because the array had corrupt data on it.
