Problem reinstalling xp

Hi there i had a virus which compromised my pcs security so my isp told me to reinstall windows on all of my computers (3), 2 reinstalled windows fine but the 3rd has the problem.

I begin to install put my code in and then as it starts to install i get this.

Setup was unable to retrieve or save information about your disk drives. Access is denied. I wondered if any1 had come across this b4 or could offer any help at all. Its windows with sp2 i think.

are you placing the windows xp disks in the drive then restarting the computer and starting the re-install that way?
or are you placing the disk in the drive while in xp and re-installing?

Im placing the xp disk in while in on xp not restarting. But i dont see how this should cause a problem as i had to reinstall my other 2 computers that way and they both reinstalled fine.

Its just the 1 computer i hvae a problem with. If that helps.

If you have a virus problem etc then boot from the CD and partition/format the drive. That will also fix your security/permission problems too. I just wouldn't install XP over what you already have if you have a drive that is infected with something.
