Anyone else had a problem removing a Akasa Evo 33 cooler?

I was about to upgrade my 939 4000+ to a Opteron 180 this morning but ran into a problem getting the cooler off.

It's screwed into it's own back plate, but one of the screws doesn't unscrew -- just keeps turning and turning! I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to do. I have no idea how to get the thing off without destroying the motherboard!

Help! :(

hacksaw off the old bolt :) is mobo out of case be sure there isnt a nut on the rear just spinning!

Yes, the mobo is out of the case. :)

I went out and bought a pair of needle nose pliers to try to grab the back bit while unscrewing but can't get a good enough grip.

I thought about sawing it off, but there isn't much clearance between the bolt and all the other important lumpy bits on the motherboard.

I managed to get it off with a hacksaw in the end. I thought the motherboard wouldn't survive, but it turns out that she's a sturdy old battle axe.

I seem to have spent the entire weekend trying to get the thing back to life again! Still, she's now sporting a rather fetching Opteron 180 @ 2.64Ghz.

Hehe, no. That one is properly broken now! :D

I've got the stock one fitted for now with a bit of Arctic Silver, but I'll replace it later at some point. I'm just grateful that it still runs! :)
