problem restoring iphone

I have put my iphone 3g into DFU to restore it , but after loading itunes up it goes through the motions iphone has apple with the line slowly going up , but at the end it say error itunes cannont restore iphone , what can i do ?

What firmware are you restoring to and what one from?

its ok got it working with 3.1.3 , is there anyway to install 3.1.2 and use redsnow to jailbreak and unlock it ? can i just tell itunes to restore the phone to 3.1.2 buy using a 3.1.2 ipsw?

or if not what would you recommend i tried snowbreeze with 3.1.3 but i got the itunes error 1600 cant restore iphone and tried using ireb but that doesnt work with windows 7 x64 , or there is some other prob with it ...ty

Yip. At the end of the restore to 3.1.2 iTunes whinges as you have seen. Just ignore it the firmware is installed fine.

Then use QuickPwn to get it out of the restart loop it gets into after you ignore iTunes' error.

Then do as you wish...

EDIT: I had to use a 32bit OS to get QuickPwn to work though after seeing your edit

cant find link for quickpwn anywhere the site is a mess do you have one ? its ok found one is 2.2 the latest one?

I found a torrent of it a while ago but your 64bit OS is gonna prevent it working anyway.
