Hi there,

Have set up a small network at home and was looking to play around with Active Directory and Domains.

I have set up my other PC as a domain controller, and would like to set permissions for the users accounts on the network.

However, when i try to run gpedit.msc in Start>Run, i get told that it is unavailable or missing. Please can someone help me find how to retrieve it.

I am runnin Win2k Server btw.

Cheers

Group Policy is listed there, yeah.

When i add it then I get the Local Computer Policy tree to change the local settings.

When I change the security to allow users to log on locally :

Computer Config>Security Settings>Local Policies>User Permissions

I add the users i want to allow to this setting, but the Domain setting (Effective Policy Setting) is greyed out and denies the user to log on locally.

The only way i can see it to change the Effective Policy Setting is by right clicking the Domain Controller icon in Active Directory Users and Computers. In the window that pops up, selecting Group Policy tab, and edit.

At this point is where it says that gpedit.msc is missing.

Is a real pain, cos i need to be able to do this cos am doin the MCSA qualification and have already failed the exam twice :(
