Hey guys, I've just upped my RAM from 4GB to 12GB (now using all 4 slots on motherboard). Now, I was previously running with all of my cores unlocked on the Phenom, with them clocked at 3.4GHz and running stable.

Having installed the new RAM, I can't get the machine to boot into windows with the extra cores unlocked, it either BSODs, or hangs on the windows logo and reboots. I tried upping the VCore, which hasn't helped.

Could this be a PSU issue?

A few suggestions,

Try increasing the memory controller voltage.

Is the new RAM the same voltage and timing as the older set? if not then set this in the BIOS to the set with the slowest values manually then fit the new RAM and try and boot it up.

Cheers Stulid - had a little root around my BIOS and made a couple of changes including DRAM Voltage.

I had to change my O/C profile to DOCP - so no more higher clock speeds for now. Changed the default memory timings (9-9-9-24) to the actual timings for the memory modules I'm using (9-9-9-27).

I was still having problems booting into windows at this point, so I decided to take a look at the voltages. Setting it to the level it should be (1.65v) resulted in the same problems. However, I decided to notch it down from 1.65v to 1.5v and it appears to be stable now.

I'll report back with any changes.
