Hi

I thought id ask here before I smash my PC up...... Ive got an MSI GTX 970 and an INNO3D 970, on the ROG Maximus Ranger 7 board with windows 10 64 bit. Both cards work fine. Ive SLI the cards, they both show up in windows and in the NVidia control panel ( 2 X gtx 970 ) but it wont enable SLI? says sli disabled and wont give me the option to change it. Ive uninstalled the drivers ( removed everything ) tried 2 different SLI bridges but nothing, updated the BIOS of the mobo..... Anyone help?

Thanks :)

amd you can usually mix cards for crossfire - with NVidia they don't like you mixing cards - usually has to be exact same model to get sli to work.

No I don't think that's right. As long as it's a same type of card 970, 980, 980Ti etc...it should be fine to SLI.

They should work fine together in SLi, being different brands doesn't matter, as long as they are the same cards.

I expect it is entirely down to the fact you have different 970s (despite Nvidia claiming it should work). I posted about it just a couple of days ago when someone was having issues with their own SLI setup.

I don't think so. I've SLI'd 2 different model 8800GTs and an Inno3D and MSI 670 (both even had different clock speeds) and it always worked fine.

This is a long shot but I have a vague memory of being unable to enable SLI when I had 2 monitors connected to 1 card and my 3rd monitor on the other. SLI enable option only became available when I connected all monitors to the same card.

I currently run an INNO3D 980ti with an EVGA SC 980ti. I've run the INNO3D with a classified when they were on air. I've run two different 670s in SLI in the past.

Whatever your issue is, it isn't different brands surely?

Well I wasn't able to SLI an Inno3D 970 with neither a Galax nor a Palit 970 but they all worked fine with 2 of the same brand.
EVGA has a faq entry showing that even different model numbers of their own 970s won't SLI together.

I'm pretty sure this only affects the 970.
