problem trying to install extensions on firefox

ive just insatlled firefox, but in order to view some of my site i need to download the plug-ins, i went to the mozilla site to do so and get a

"you cannot connect to addons.mozilla.org because SSL is disabled"

so how do i go about changing this?

Enable SSL by going to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Security -> Check all the boxes.
