Good afternoon.

I'm trying to get an old game to run on an old system. The system does meet the min specs needed to run the game. The game is Microsoft Train Simulator. It's installed on a friend's old system, however when I try run the game, I get the following error: "Microsoft Train Simulator needs hardware acceleration to run".

So I went into the display properties and clicked on the advance tab. Pushed the Hardware accelerator to the top and rebooted the machine. Same problem. Also installed DX9C on his pc. it's running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks!

but he is running DX9C isnt he? surely that is what the gfx will be trying to use whether or not the game needs an earlier version?

Im just guessing here as my knowledge of directX is nil!

This is true. The card is made by ATi and is a 4mb 3D ATI Rage IIC AGP.

Can't find specs for it to see what DX it supports..?

Upgrade time it is, lol. However on the box it says the GFX card must have at least 4mb - Thus the card has. But still won't play. Oh well..:(
