I'm trying to make a dual monitor wallpaper so that I have different images on each monitor. I know there is no such function in Windows 7 to do this, and that you can get 3rd party software, but I don't really want to spend any money on it or install another piece of software on my machine just to make it happen.

I thought it would be just as easy as stitching 2 images together and tiling the wallpaper, but it comes out funny on the 2nd monitor.

I have this:

But this is how it come out when tiled across the monitors:

I have 2 x 1920 x 1200 res monitors, so I thought it would be easy to make an image of 3840 x 1200 and stick them together.

Does anyone know why when I tile the wallpaper, Windows makes it slightly bigger causing the issue or how to fix it?

Thanks for any help :)

Check to make sure the monitors are aligned perfectly in the display options.

Sorry, I'm new to dual monitor set-up's.

How do I check this? I have a GTX 580 but I can't see any options about monitor alignment.

Thanks again.

EDIT: Found it. Thanks for the help, all sorted now :)

I found it easier to just install Display Fusion (Free), I know you said you don't want to install any extra software, but it makes it soooo much easier, especially if you change your wallpaper(s) on a regular basis (Like I do when I get bored!), and DF doesn't take up much in resources!! :)

First time I've change it since Windows 7 came out :)

I read a lot of bad things about high CPU usage spikes with DF. There are a few people on their forums with the issue, so I just thought if I could avoid that then all the better.

It's all sorted now though :)

Glad it's sorted, but for future reference, right-click desktop and go to "Screen Resolution", you should be able to drag the screens so they are at the same height. May have just been that, but I guess there's no reason to have this information now :P

Yea, that's all I needed to do in the end. :)

Glad you got the problem sorted, you are correct about DF, I often see memory leaks and usage spikes with it, I just close it down when I'm doing intensive stuff and fire it back up when websurfing, listening to music etc.
No biggie really considering the options you get with it, the latest beta has a built in multiple monitor image screensaver for those so inclined to still use them in the 21st century.
