Hi guys

My 290x seems to have a problem, it keeps dropping fps from the v synched 60fps to say 15fps and then rises back up after 2 secs, this happens say every minute. Ive downloaded gpu tweak to monitor the graphs when this happens and there showing something very strange, the gpu usage is constantly dropping and rising while in game from 11% to 100%, funny thing is it seems to be on 11% for 15 secs then rises to 100% for a split second. Another strange thing is the core clock, this is meant to be 1050mhz but infact is dropping and rising from 920-980 all the time while playing. Does anyone have a idea why this could be and any idea how to fix it??

Thanks guys

It sounds like your card is overheating, is there good airflow in your case? Can you take the side off your case and blow air in from a desk fan and see if the problem persists.

What drivers are you using?

Check this link.

This Vsync bug was not present in Catalyst 13.11 9.2 Beta drivers or earlier. Here is the download link for them if you want to try it. :)

Regarding the core clock, are you overclocking? Have you set the power limit at +50%? What temps are the card reaching?
