I dloaded a demo from xbox live market place topspin 2 wimbledon demo. Every time i try and play it i get the following popping up in a bar on the right hand side of the screen:

This game does not support pal 50, please change you display setting to pal 60. To change your settings in system, select console settings, display.

Ive tried this and all i get is a selection of resolution options, no option for 50\60hz. However when i go into console settings and go to display options i get told im runnig at 1360x768 widescreen, pal 60 mode.

Anyone any ideas of hwo to get around this? Im running my 360 on a dell 2005fpw on the official ms vga cable.

Yeah, I had this too, I take it you are running HD? If I remember correctly, you need to switch the flip on the TV cable at the back of the 360 so it's analogue (I think that's the setting). Then start the 360 - it'll look terrible. But then you can change that setting to 50Hz. Then turn it off, flip the switch back to digital again, turn the console back on, and Top Spin should work.

That's from memory... so I think that's about it :)

[EDIT]

Oh, just noticed you're using the VGA cable... not sure then... you might have to put it through the component cable to get it set right. Or at the least plug it up to a standard def TV.

SO basically i have to plug in thr standard cable to set it to 60hz, then when i connect the vga cable again it should stay set that way?

Yes, connect the 360 to the TV using a super crappy standard definition method, change it to PAL60 and then power off and reconnect to VGA.

If it's of any help, one of the Dashboard developers recently put a request for features on his blog. The 50/60 VGA switch was very heavily requested, so hopefully it'll happen at some point.

Surely it's a bug that games complain about the 50/60Hz setting even when using a vga cable? If I understand it correctly, the 50/60hz setting doesn't apply to vga and HD formats.

I guess it's a bug in the way games look at the registry etc, as from what I understand VGA will always use 60hz, but with HDTVs, you can have 50hz and 60hz, but it's automatically set via the SDTV settings. It's annoying.
