Right I have an Opty 146, A8N32 and 1GB PC3200.

2.8ghz is stable at 330x8.5 using 133 divider and 1.5vcore:

I can also get 2.4Ghz at 400x6 usuing a 100 divider at 1.5vcore:

The problem is I cant post at 7x400, which would make 2.8ghz, now I know I can hit 400fsb, I also know my chip can handle 2.8ghz I have even had it up to 3ghz but it required around 1vcore to remain stable, so why cant i do 7x400? Could it be the memory I find I have to change timmings the more i push the fsb even if I using divider. Any help appreciated

why do you want to run 400fsb, or are ya just testing?

Testing and just wanting to run it as fast as I possibly can, 7x400 would run a lot nicer than 8.5x330, i'm thinking it has something to do with my cheap memory, even though I am using a 1:2 divder. Then again maybe at a higher core speed 400fsb cant be maintained but I managed to get 6.5x400 to boot giving me 2.6Ghz however I cant get that up and running again, I was messing around with all the mem timings when I did, although I cant see why they would be effected as I am not running the ram past its rated speed.

I've found that the HTT speed rarely makes a difference with A64's. I used to run my old A64 3000 at both 280*9 (2.52Ghz) or 313*8 (2.50Ghz) and it made absolutely no difference.

hmm you're right, I been so busy trying to hit 7x400 that I lost track of things lol. Dunno why I got it into my head if the mem speed and clock speed were to remain the same I was gonna see some increase lol. Ok forget this 400 business, lets say i stick to 330 I wll need some ram that can hit 275mhz any reccomendations?

unless you wanna be pumping some volts through the ram, then youll be wanting some tccd based stuff, geil 1 tccd, gskill le/la etc etc, check the xs ram list for more recomendations

I have seen some Corsair twinx xms4400 for £80, however that was for 2x512mb, timmings are 3-4-4-8 which is quite slack really :/ but then I suppose it is high speeds were talking here, I also was thinking of getting 2gb, but price wise I am lookin at £240+ . Do you think the xms4400 for that price is a gd deal?

youll need to work out what chips it uses - xs ram list is helpful, you wont find many 2x1gb kits that will go over 250 unfortunatly
