I originally posted in the general hardware section because I thought the problem was my PSU (still might be) but after following some advice the problem may lie with my graphics card.
Quick overview: I was on my computer when my brother switched it off from the plug and ever since my pc fails after the vista loading screen – no signal to my monitor so it just goes into standby.
I booted up in safe mode and uninstalled my graphics drivers and then restarted in normal mode. Vista automatically reinstalled the drives and I restarted my computer. It didn’t work, same problem as before.
My computer can boot up in safe mode and can boot up normally without graphics drivers installed but if drivers are installed it can’t boot up normally. Do you think the issue lies with my graphics card, PSU or Vista?
Specs:
Q6600 2.4Ghz @ 3.4Ghz
Asus p5k-e
Sparkle 8800 GT 512mb overclocked
Western Digital SATA2 320Gb
OCZ reaper 4 Gb DDR2 memory
580w Hiper type M
X-FI xtreme gamer 7.1
Antec 900
Thanks for your help.
Edit: I'm giving serious consideration to buying a new psu (BeQuiet! 650w) and HD4890 but before I spend £300 I want to make sure the problem lies with either my graphics card or psu which I'm planning to replace anyway.
