Hi There,
I’ve done a BIOS update on my F-190HD motherboard as I needed some of the features of the later BIOS (mine was still on 14, current is 19) .
I used the windows flash utility version 1.5.08 (latest from the Abit website)
BIOS update appeared to be successful but on reboot nothing came on screen, and there was no hard drive access.
I reset the CMOS jumper and got the initial post screen which showed a CMOS error and that default values had been loaded (as expected). Options were F1 to ignore and continue or Delete to enter setup.
I entered setup made appropriate changes and saved them.
Again the machine doesn’t come back up.
Clear CMOS again and I have the same as above, this time I tried F1, machine boots into vista no problem. If I reboot however, it won’t come back up again until I clear the CMOS.
I’ve now tried bios versions 19, 18, 17 and the original 14, using both the windows flash method and booting from a floppy boot disk with the same result each time.
I’ve now run out of things to try, is this just a dodgy BIOS chip or is it more serious?
Thanks for any advice,
E-I
