Problem with AF on 400d

This is my first proper camera and i'm having problems..

I bought the camera from Canon retailer on an auction site as a refurbed unit..
I also bought a Sigma 18-50 lens and a Sigma 70-300 lens..
The problem is with AF,when i go to take a photo the AF adjusts but it's still just out of focus and the picture is slightly blurred.If i set it to manuel and focus myself i can get a perfect picture..

This is happening with both lenses,and i've tried another 18-50 lens..

I take it that this should not be happening and i believe the problems lies with the camera..Has anyone alse had simlilar problems?...

Is it the image in the viewfinder which is blurred or the actual file when you've taken the shot?

As above. Could just be the viewfinder out of focus. Have you adjusted it to your eye yet? (there's a dial)

It's the actual image taken thats the problem,it's only out of focus by the smallest amount,but it still makes the picture blurd...I mean in manuel it's fine,but as it's a new toy i expect everything to work 100%..

You dont have the canon lenses??

Your camera or lens could be front focusing. Doesn't matter if it's a 3rd party lens.

Thanks for replies,got a refund and bought a new body today which is perfect....A lot more happier now...Alan
