My air con has been only slightly cooler then without air con so I went to kwik fit for a recharge, that was fine and right afterwards air con was nice and cold. The next day (yesterday) I found it to only be slightly cooler then ambient again, until after about 60 miles I went over a small bumb, there was a click & suddenly freezing air came out how it should. Once I turned the engine off and went out later it was back to hardly working at all.

Anyone know what the problem is?
Its a 51 plate astra if that makes any difference.

A dodgy wire by the sound of it, get the air con serviced not just recharged.

Sounds like either you're losing refrigerant or the compressor isn't engaging properly. I'd also check the condition of your auxiliary belt/tensioner/roller, if the belt isn't being tensioned properly or has stretched you may have problems with it turning the compressor mechanism.

Clearly the compressor isn't being engaged, when you say it's "hardly working", it probably isn't working at all, the moving air just makes you feel slightly cooler. Could be caused by a large number of things, sticking clutch, broken wire, corroded connections, faulty relay, faulty pressure switch etc.

It does work slightly as the air starts warm & normal & slowly become colder. Just not as cold as it should be!
