Problem with BE and Yahoo! Messenger?

I've been reinstalling a PC for a work colleague. I've been trying to reinstall Yahoo! Messenger and after a 30 second delay keep getting the following message...

'Yahoo! Messenger is unable to download files needed for installation. Please check firewall settings and retry installation.'

I’m pretty sure that I haven’t got any firewall issues that would be causing problems.

I’ve tried the installer on a couple of my own machines and keep getting the same result.

I even tried downloading the full installer from FileHippo and it just times out.

I just logged into a remote machine I have access to and the installer works as expected.

I’m at a bit of a loss. I was wondering if it was an issue with my ISP (BE). Is there anyone out there with a BE connection who could see if they’re having the same problem?

What OS is it? Tried running as Admin (Right click --> Run as...) if it is W7/Vista. What router is being used and is the Windows firewall service off?

I've attempted the installation on XP Home, XP Pro 32bit, and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit machines.

I've tried disabling both the OS and router firewalls. The MTU setting doesn't make any difference and I haven't noticed any other internet related problems.

It isn't an application I personally use so I've never had reason to try and install it before.
