Ok basicly a few of my m8s had various bits laying about and they all said they didnt want them any more so i clubbed them all up and added them to some bits i had laying about to put a rig together and see if i could get something going.

Basicly this is what i have atm...

ASUS A8N5X with a 3800x2 + freezer pro and 2x 512mb ram "Geil" 8600GT and a 500w Colorsit power pack + 80+160gb hdd "ide" + a dvd rom

i know the power pack is crap its just there to power this so not needing nothing special

my problem is no video on the screen when i turn everything on

fans spin, lights light up on the mobo, tried a 8800gt i know that works and still nothing tried with 1 and 2 sticks of ram and even no ram.tried to clear cmos and still nothing :/ not even any beeps if i leave it on

so im a bit stuck as to what my problem could be

can anyone maybe think of anything i havent tried?

Thanks for any futher posts :)

It may be a lack of power due to a flaky psu - try a different PSU just to rule it out. (If not try a skeleton setup - 1 stick, cpu, gfx and nothing else and see if you get a display.)

Plus, check the obvious - re-check all your connections cpu/fan connection, gfx inputs etc - it's really easy to overlook.

thanks for the post m8

ive tried all what u have said apart from another psu

only other i have is my 520W corsair in my pc but i suppose i could give it a go when i rip mine all out soon :)

If its not that i suppose its either a cpu or motherboard related issue :/

It would certainly be looking that way if the other psu replicated the same problem - but the mobo would be my first choice.

Do you get a post beeb - and have you tried running it outside of the case?

The output of that PSU should be fine with the other hardware as long it has no other problems,500W is not bad mate.

May be something more obvious like plec said intially, monitor leads and that DVI connections or is it the older monitor socket? Does any lights come on and change color on the monitor to even determine if anything is being picked up from the PC? Changes from Orange to green doesnt it if theres any reception from the PC rig.

LoL I have a Hyper 580W TyreR Modular PSU here from my last rig, I bought all my parts then rigged it up and a week later my PSU blew so sent it back and got another one but in the meantime whilst I was waiting for it to be changed I put an older basic 480W 'Macron' PSU in it and when I got my replacement Hyper 580W I never bothered to put it back in.
Its a big massive beast too that lights up, I would put it on my new rig I bought from OCuk last week but that came with a Cosair 650W so I will just leave that in it.

Ummm no beeps which is why i tried swapping things about and all sorted. But still couldnt get any beeps outta the board which sort makes me feel its a motherboard issue. Im gonna have a go with my psu and also watch the motherboard light and see if it blinks/changes colour.

tried it with an old crt first which when nothing came up i thought it was that but then i tried it with my own working tft and still nothing also tried vga and dvi cables and still nothing.

Ive made sure that both psu power plugs are connected as i have had a build i forgot to plug the 4 pin in :D

monitor comes on says no signal even with a working gfx card.

Im taking a huge guess @ the motheboard but tbh i dont know if i cba to go buy one and it not being that rofl. It was only a project to chuck some bits together so they didnt rot in mine/my friends houses lol
