Hi Guys

My mum is having an issue with a builder.
What's happened is, mum bought a house that needed completely gutting, plumb, electrics, building work etc etc.
Mum has a very large sum of money in the bank so doing this work is not an issue.
The builder who was given the job was relieved of their duties on the 2nd day due to a number of factors, turning up late, not taking on board what was being asked to be done and also not being able to give a definate figure to carry out the work and saying they are going to be on the job for in my eyes and everyone else's eyes an unreasonable and lengthy time.
Given the fact, no quote for the work as given, with no breakdown of work carried out, this builder has now invoiced my mum for X amount for his days work ( knock down a 3mSQ porch in the house )

If he was unable to provide a quote for all his work, how can he provide an invoice for this work carried out.

And yes, mum has gone about this in a round about way, my mum tends to trust people more than she should and I guess thats the reason why I think she didn't get an exact figure from his as he was given his recomendation from a lady in the village and trusted he was going to be straight with her.

any help with this would be very much appreciated

Thanks guys thats what ive suggested

is just short of £500 a reasonable rate for a days work lol, and turning up late the next day

Its all sorted now, new builder is in there and is nearly done, he has said this guy was taking mum for a ride

Well my father in law has been over from Harrogate this afternoon, he is a joiner / builder but kept away from the job because it was family
He has told mum to pay him nothing, the job would have took no more than half a day, and because he was thrown off the job he reckons he will of thrown a price in expecting nothing but tried his luck.
There is no quote with any agreed price.
