Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help me with a problem that's drving me nuts.

After recently moving house, I finally got around to re-connecting my sound setup to my PC. I have The Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 amplifier/processor and speakers. I also have a Creative SB Live 24-bit in the PC.

The whole setup was working fine before the move. The digital out from the card was fed into the amp using mini-DIN. Now it won't work, apart from just the two front speakers (R/L). The centre and two satellites are dead. I have tested the cables and speakers - they are fine. It seems that either the card or the amp is not outputting the correct signal, but I'm not sure. :(

Have checked the Creative speaker settings, the ontrol panel settings, etc.

I wonder if something got damaged? Everything was sooo well wrapped and packed though!

Any help really appreciated!

Sorted!!!

16 views and no replies...... I guess that this one was just too tricky!

Actually it's a bit embarrassing this one. As I said above, after installing everything back into place, I used the Creative Speaker Settings applet to try sending test tones to each speaker. No dice. Also tried from the control panel (I think). Still nothing.

Finally yesterday, I dug out the amplifier remote from another as-yet-unpacked-removal-box. I noticed that this remote also a speaker test tone button. Tried it..... it worked! Put a DVD into the PC (doh! for not trying that earlier) and I got glorious DD 5.1.

Seems the applet software doesn't work properly, and nor does the XP Control Panel side of things. I'm considering looking for updated drivers/software, but probably won't bother.... something else might get broken!

Thanks to all that looked...

Irf.
