problem with certain webpages

hi guys,

my brother has just come back from uni and brought his pc with him. there are four other pc's on my home network which have full internet connectivity, however his (which worked in his uni house on that network) refuses to let certain sites (myspace for one) to load and also intermittantly kicks him off messenger giving a firewall error. I have tried turing off any software firewalls on his pc but to no luck, there are no rules in the router config and i have also scanned for spyware and viruses, any ideas?? thanks in advance

try changing the mtu seeting on his pc.

Hi,

I have just changed the MTU size, but with no luck still certain pages will not load. I have since put in a second NIC and this one works fine allowing full access, so i thought maybe a driver issue with the onboard NIC so I downloaded the latest drivers from DFI's website but again with no luck.

Any further Ideas???

What's the MTU set to?

I have tried 1400 and 1492, the router is set to 1492.

Delve into the TCP settings for that network card. Check if it's set to use DHCP e.t.c. or not, you never know what was needed on the Uni network.

It is a normal desktop PC which was never on the Uni network only in his house at Uni, which I also installed the network into. All DHCP settings etc have been checked and double checked to be identical to any of the working units in the house.
