Guys,

I have been sent a video from a friend, i can hear the sound ok but in windows media player i do not get any picture, only the visulisation when the sound is on.

When i go to properties on the file i found out that the video compression is MS-CRAM.

Cant seem to be able to find the codec anywhere - any ideas?

Thanks

Not heard of that one. The odd thing is that i have got some vids that used to play, then now after re-installing machine, they won't play, just the sound and visualisation as above.
Must be some codecs that can be added to media player from somwhere?

It could be to do with the overlay, it might be sending the video to your secondary display. Do other videos play correctly?

edit - I am directing this question at the opening poster ;)

Not sure about the original poster, but yes, other vids play ok. To be honest i have not looked into this that much, just thought, bugger, will have to find what codec it needs.

Think it was either mpeg 3 or 4, but guessing now.

I've just looked in ffdshow and it does indeed have the MS-CRAM codec, but it's disabled by default. If you download and install ffdshow then go to video decoder configuration, select codecs on the left hand side and scroll down to MS Video 1 and select libavcodec that should allow you to play it.
