Hi,
(Sorry for longwinded post)
I recently had a problem with left4dead2 where the game was crashing at random times. This turned out to be an outofdate soundcard driver. In the process of trying to fix this, steamsupport(official) asked me to try a number of different solutions.
One of them was to type the following cmd into cmd prompt:
"net localgroup administrators NetworkService /ADD"
Ever since then, I have been unable to connect to internet games. E.g. trying to connect to a l4d2 game server, the game will get to loading screen and stop, then timeout and boot me back to lobby. Sometimes this doesnt happen and I'm stuck at loading. Sometimes it loads up the map, but then after a few seconds loses connection to server and boots me out. The same thing happens in counterstrike source, I can connect to servers most of the time but after a few seconds get timed out.
Intrestingly, when I exit the game after getting timed out etc. I am unable to load up a webpage or send/recieve email. It's as if my internet connection as completely dropped. After a few minutes it rights itself of its own accord.
Now bearing in mind, my connection was 100% stable before I started doing what steamsupport told me leads me to believe they have caused this.
I know its not a hardware problem or ISP problem as, like I've said the connection was 100% OK before I typed that cmd prompt in. The only other things they asked me to do was reinstall videocard/soundcard drivers so I cant see what else has caused this problem.
Is there any help or tips you guys can offer as to whats went wrong and how I can fix it?
Thanks
