Problem with counter strike 1.6

When ever i try to join a server or get info for one my internet seems to cut off I guess it has something to do with ports? my modem is safecom SART2-411

OMFG
that happened to me on CS Source no matter what I did i.e. even tried port forwarding, UnUP, DMZ etcetc.

I got a new router Netgear DG834GT and it is fine now

Although I am not sure if it is because of this router specifically or due to using two routers - former one is now active as a network switch.
