Problem with Daemon tools x64

As title i'm having problems with daemon tools version 4 x64 edition, upon installation it asks for the restart, then after which the installation restarts and asks for another restart.
it then does this repeatedly.

anyone got any ideas as to why its doing this and is there a way to fix it?

Does the same on the 32bit version, i guess its bug with vista and the virtual drives they are trying to install cause alcohol doesnt work either, i just want to mount an iso :(.

Its caused by a new update to windows...However there is a new version of the sptd which might allow it to work properly...head over to www.daemon-tools.cc and download the x64 version and see if that works.

cheers BlizzardX i've got it past the original error, though it give a createfile error half way through the install now :(.

going to try alcohol now to see if that works with the updated driver

hmm...if you search the dt forums you'll see a topic for the vista beta 2 release..somewhere in there it tells you about the update to windows which caused the problem... Uninstall that update and it should all work fine again

This is for anyone else having the same problem, i.e daemon tools installation stopping with the Failed calling CreateFile; GetLastError = 32

The solution i have found is as follows

Run regedit and delete these registry keys before trying to install:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SPTD
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd

In order to delete the above keys it maybe necessary to change the permissions (right click->permissions->everyone and set full control).
It may also be necessary to delete:

%WINDOWS\system32\drivers\sptd.sys

Once the keys and file have been deleted reboot.
Deamon tools will now install correctly
