Problem with Dell 3014. Design issue or fundamental incompatibility?

Hi,

I hope someone can help me isolate an extremely frustrating problem I have been experiencing with my u3014 display.

The display will occasionally start to show white flickering horizontal lines (almost like static - this video captures it well (thanks to the original poster) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrM59AM14A0&feature=youtu.be) and also exhibits an intermittent loss of signal necessitating a power cycle to restore. One also had an unresponsive OSD and power button.

I have now had two replacements fail in the same way, for a total of three displays exhibiting the same behaviour in less than a week.

Since I have a second display - an Asus - and this exhibits none of the same issues when connected to the same system in the same port on my EVGA GTX 680 FTW (two in SLI), I can only assume the fault is with the display, but having now had three with the same issue, I am forced to explore a deeper incompatibility or design problem.

I found another thread (on the Dell forum) describing this exact issue, but having now had three displays all fail in less than a week, I am beginning to suspect a simple replacement will not resolve the issue.

I should add that I tried swapping DVI and power cables. I have updated my BIOS and I am using the latest Nvidia driver set.

Anyone have any ideas what (other than three faulty displays) could cause this issue? It would have to be an issue that affects only my Dell monitor and not my Asus PB278Q, which in itself seems odd. For this reason, I am wondering about an incompatibility with my graphics cards or my motherboard (Asus Rampage IV Extreme), although I cannot imagine what form this would take.

Any ideas/suggestions/thoughts very much welcome and appreciated.

Having scoured the net looking for reports on this display, I suspect it may have some power issues.
I have not seen any white lines today, but my monitor did once fail to display my desktop when Windows had booted (following a restart). The secondary screen was working perfectly as always and I simply cycled the power again to coax it into functioning.
Perhaps it has a power supply issue relating to a change in display state. If so, I hope a firmware update might resolve it.

I have spoken to Dell again today and had the issue escalated.
