My housemate has just purchased a DFI Lanparty NF4 UltraD. He bought a new cpu, ram, gfx card etc.

After building the PC, he turned the power on. The board powers up, the fans spin up... the monitor stays off, the mobo doesnt beep and only 3 of the debug lights light up.

After we tested it, removing various parts and trying them in my PC we narrowed them out of the equation. We even tried my bios chip in his mobo but it still did the same. Does it look like an RMA is in order?

Cheers

yup, looks like a DOA case to me. Shame, ive just recieved my board today and had to to 350fsb already without more volts. They really are awesome boards, hope the rma doesnt take too long.

Yeh my boards been amazing as well, only time I had problems with it was when it was brand new and was still with the bios it shipped with. Apart from that its been flawless:)

Guess he'll have to post it off tomorrow, he'll be gutted, was looking forwards to a weekend with a new pc (having just got rid of his old 1900XP)

Hmm, don't be too hasty - have you definitely ruled out the power supply as a source of trouble?
3 LEDs means it's having RAM trouble. You say you've tried bits in your PC - I presume you've tried the RAM and CPU, but have you tried them both together? A64 memory controllers can be twitchy.

But if there was a problem with the ram or cpu, the bios would be giving off its beep codes... We've plugged in all the connectors, havent tried the PSU in my system. Might try that tonight..

I had exactly same problem with mine 2 days ago, after much mucking about turned out it was a stick of bad ram, luckily I had spare sticks to swap so if you can try just swapping ram.

I had that problem, it was a dead RAM stick. Use just one (verified live) stick in the top orange slot, see what happens then. If it works, you just need ot get on the net and update your BIOS.
