problem with ek coolstream rad xt 240

Hey guys I need some serious advice about my system as I have a bad feeling it's burnt out due to a problem with my new EK Rad that I just bought.

I installed the Rad with no problems and used the screws provided for attaching the fans. After filling the res and turning on the system, it sparked at me and just refused to turn on. I inspected the case and realised that all the coolant had drained from the Res and was coming from the bottom of the new rad. I took it out the case and realised that the coolant had leaked onto the connector of my bottom fan, bitfenix spectre pro, which may explain the sparking.

On closer inspection of the Rad I noticed there was small traces of coolant coming from 2 of the screw holes where I had installed the fans. I have contacted ek and just waiting for a response. In the mean time I need some advice on what I can do about my system after it now won't even turn on.

I hope someone can give me some advice as I have put a lot of money into this system and just hope it hasn't all just gone to waste. Thanks guys
 
Seems you did not read the warnings about screw length, you must have used screws that were too long and pierced the radiator, most radiators are like this and it does catch people out unfortunately.

It will be blamed on user error, usually.
 
As above, user error. I don't expect EK to do anything here other then advise you on the best way to salvage your system.

Mop up what you can and leave to dry out for a few days before applying any power to it.

The fans you use 25mm thick?
 
There should be 2 lots, one set shorter than the other, looks like you used the long ones?

The radiator may be fixable, soldering the holes up may work, and dry everything else out, remove everything and inspect for damage and pray it has not ruined much more than a fan.

The screws are 35mm and the fans are 25mm. I can't see how it's user error if I've used the screws that came with the Rad. I also purchased the 120 version of the rad and had no problems there
 
They also supply some 30mm screws in the package, which are what you should use with 25mm fans. Unfortunately they'll just tell you it's user error.

You need to fully dry out the system and then see piece by piece what works. This is why a leak check before running your system is so critical.
 
the XT/XTX radiators come with 30mm and 35mm. 30mm should be used for direct attachment of 25mm thick fans, 35mm should be used when going Case>Fan>rad due to the extra few mm a case panel would add.

If you have screwed in 35mm screw, directly through a 25mm thick fan into the radiator, there lies your problem unfortunately.

Luckily I got the right screws for the 120 by sheer luck. I'm not too bothered about the damaged Rad as will just get a new one but I'm just hoping nothing else is damaged. I did have the bridging connector attached to the 24 pin at the time but the 8 pin atx was connected.
 
Dry everything completely before you do anything, including between the PSU pins.

Once you're happy, I'd test the PSU separately using the bridge connector, and having removed everything from the board that may have got splashed, see if the system powers up. You can then re-introduce components one at a time.
