Problem with Fallout 3 Vsync

So I decided to replay this with a bunch of mods. I have come across a problem. If I turn on Vsync, I get insane amounts of mouse lag, making aiming and using menus very annoying. If I turn Vsync off (or rather, force it off in the control panel), my FPS can get as high as 120 FPS, which basically makes the game twice as fast as normal (e.g. you run twice as fast), which seems really bizarre to me.

I have tried turning Vsync off and changing iFPSClamp=0 to iFPSClamp=60 in the .ini, but it has no effect. I have tried using D3DOverrider to turn on Vsync but I still get mouse lag. I honestly don't know what to do, I either get terrible mouse lag, or fluctuating game speed based on my FPS. Seems like a really bad design flaw to me, which I didn't really notice the first time I played through it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Vsync and mouse-lag usually means you are using triple-buffering rather than double buffering.

Got this sorted. For anyone who has the same problem and finds this thread in the near future, you're going to need to download this FPS limiter program from here. Then follow the instructions in this thread, to limit your FPS to 60, while disabling Vsync which causes mouse lag.

If like me you also use FOSE for mods, there is a way you can set it up so that they work together, described in the FAQ section of the FOSE page on Fallout 3 Nexus.

* How can I use this with FPS Limiter?
- Copy the Limiter_D3D9.dll and HookHelper.dll files in to your Fallout folder (same folder as fose_loader.exe and fallout3.exe), then add "-fpslimit 30" (without the quotes) to fose_loader's command line. Change 30 to whatever limit you want.

Hope that saves some people from seaching around for hours trying to fix a problem that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
