Hi Folks,
At home I have a wireless network set up with a netgear router (not sure which one), a desktop running windows xp and a laptop running windows 2k pro. All is set up fine for surfing the internet etc but we are having problems gaming. It seems the desktop, every maybe minute to 2 minutes will get a large amount of lag for a second or so and then carry on as normal. This is still happening after a clean install and update of windows xp. The laptop is fine when gaming online (quake 3 in the case of the laptop).
Is there anything I can do to narrow down the cause of the contact lagging on the desktop, it isn't windows or spyware like I thought!
Also, another isuue that is probably relalted. If we play quake 3 over the net work the computer that connects to the other (ie the one joining the created game) also lags in a similar way. This is obviously without any internet access. Could it be that the router will lose data sent etc every so often or is it something else?
Thanks for any help
Matt
